New Delhi [India], December 11, 2023: According to an Indian Army Fire and Fury Corps post on X, Captain Fatima Wasim of the Siachen Warriors made history by being the first female medical officer to be deployed to an operational post on the Siachen Glacier.
“She (Captain Fatima Wasim) was inducted to a post at an altitude of 15,200 feet after undergoing rigorous training at Siachen Battle School, which speaks of her indomitable spirit and high motivation,” the Fire and Fury Corps stated on X.
A video that was uploaded and shared in the post by the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps also emphasized and celebrated Captain Fatima Wasim’s accomplishment.
After completing the induction training at Siachen Battle School earlier this month, Captain Geetika Koul of the Snow Leopard Brigade became the first female medical officer of the Indian Army to be deployed at Siachen, the highest battlefield in the world.
Siachen Glacier, which is located close to the Indo-Pak Line of Control, is renowned for being the world’s highest battle site.
It is the second-largest glacier in the world and the largest in India. It is the world’s highest battlefield.
